Huey
Huey is 3 years old, 60lbs, up-to-date on shots, neutered, and as you can see, extremely handsome. He's extremely well-mannered, loves kids, and loves to run - up to 4-miles a day during the cooler winter months! Huey is the perfect guy for any home.
Master
Master's home situation changed and he's in need of a good home with a fenced yard. He's approximately 5 years old, possibly a Lab/Hound mix, up-to-date on all shots, and neutered. Master is terrific with other dogs and absolutely loves the water! He's as friendly as can be, also gets along well with children and cats.
Gypsy and Dino are inseparable and they are looking for a home where they can stay together. They are young and active with super personalities. They love to keep each other company and they mind their manners and are crate trained.
Gypsy + Dino
Leah
Leah was found as a stray and is somewhat timid with humans. She's a small Bully/Lab mix, approximately one year old and loves other dogs. Leah is spayed, healthy, and in positive reinforcement training. She attends doggie daycare on a daily basis where she's a big hit. Leah's never met a dog she doesn't like!
Capone needed to be re-homed after his owner got a job in a location with a breed ban. Wanting to find the perfect home without using social media or taking Capone to a shelter, Dog-Harmony was contacted. A client came to mind whose home had been broken into and was in search of a dog that looked threatening but was friendly. She described her lifestyle as being very active and she had a nice sized yard. She and Capone have been a match made in heaven and they couldn't be happier.
Dozier had been abandoned along Scenic-30A. A family took him in but were unable to keep him as he suffered with separation anxiety and was destructive in the home. He was matched with a family with a farm in DeFuniak Springs. His new owners have worked through his separation anxiety and he is now the perfect dog enjoying time and space on the farm as well as a 30A!
Feeling it was time for another dog, Star's would-be owner wanted to be sure she picked the right one. Once it was determined what she was looking for in a dog, we visited Walton County Animal Shelter and Lucky Puppy Rescue. She fell in love with Star and it has been the perfect pairing.
George's owner had her hands full with two young children and a very limited budget. Poor George ended up permanently tethered in the yard and fed a diet of dry Ramen Noodles. He was eagerly surrendered to Dog-Harmony. We raised the funds to take care of getting him neutered and thoroughly checked by a vet. Being a young pup and very playful, George instantly won over our hearts and it was only a week or two before he found his happy, forever home. Luckily for us, he lives locally and attends K9-5 Doggie Day Care on a regular basis.
Zoey's former owner unfortunately found herself in a situation where she could no longer take care of her. Wanting to ensure she ended up in a good home without going through a shelter, her owner was instrumental in helping select her new home in Pennsylvania! Nancy Bown, being a member of the Assoc. of Pet Trainers, contacted a trainer within the vicinity, who did a home visit and affirmed it would be a great situation for Zoe. Two of our wonderful volunteers drove part of the way to deliver Zoe to her new owner and also fell in love with her along the way. Zoe now lives very happily in her northern home and her new owner calls her a beautiful fur baby and says she's just amazing. We love that she keeps us updated with terrific photos of this precious girl.
Sassy had been the companion of a homeless man who was being helped by a Destin church running an outreach program. Unfortunately, her circumstances changed when her owner was told by authorities he had to move on. Not knowing his immediate future, he surrendered Sassy to the church who immediately brought the 10-month old puppy to Dog-Harmony. The two of them had been together for the past eight months, and the church told us it was a sad parting. We held a fundraising event at Furry Fanatics, which The Walton Sun helped to promote by posting Sassy's story on the front page of the paper, and we raised more than enough funds to get her spayed and vaccinated. Sassy now lives in a terrific home with two doggie companions and is gradually being weaned onto dog food!
Pumpkin was found as a malnourished stray and ended up in a kill-shelter. We pulled him and put him through obedience training at Canine Consulting. Because of his very happy demeanor, he was renamed Happy and soon found a wonderful forever home.
Sadly Domino's home situation changed and he found himself living many hours alone in a garage. One of our supporters brought his situation to our attention and we were able to find him a great foster situation until he found his forever home. His original owner was a male and he appeared to often opt for male companionship. He found a home with a terrific guy and they are now best of buddies.
When rescues work together, we can achieve great things! Jerome was at a local kill shelter and was spotted by another rescue while they were picking up two other dogs. There was something about his big, gorgeous head, his old soul eyes and his friendly demeanor that just spoke to them and they asked us if we could take him. We just happened to have an open spot, so after spending 74 days at the shelter, Jerome busted free and began his new life. The other rescue group told one of their approved adopters about him and it's no surprise to any of us that they fell in love at first sight! After only being at our rescue for less than a week, Jerome (now Ranger) is already living the good life.
Takota was found as an emaciated pup in a less than desirable area. Thankfully he was picked up by a guardian angel who nurtured him to health, but was unable to keep him, and no one had claimed him. We knew of a family who had an interest in this breed and arranged a meeting. Of course, they instantly cherished him and Takota is now part of this wonderful family with kids to grow up alongside.
Harley was pulled from a local shelter as her time was up. She was originally found as a stray but had a tag and her owner was notified, but sadly never showed up to claim her. To improve on her manners, we put her through daily training and she went out on social outings with many of our terrific volunteers and walked fabulously on a leash and loved everyone she met. She soon found a home with a big yard and family to love.
Sarge, Saucie, Tilly, and Gunner were left abandoned in a box along route 20 when they were young pups. Thankfully a guardian angel found them and spent time getting them healthy, but the local shelters were full and couldn't take them on, so we took them under our wing. Once well and healthy they learned to socialize well with the dogs at doggie daycare where they also learned their basic commands. All four dogs are now in good, loving homes.
